Included in the purchase of a Svalinn dog, you receive a personalized training package. Because every K9 Owner has unique requirements, we tailor each training program according to your particular living situation, specific needs, daily routine and potential security threats.
The delivery of your new best friend comes with two main training sessions to set you up for long-term success.
During the initial training session, we teach new handlers all of the commands and sequencing they will need for basic obedience. Sit, stay, lay down, come, and so on—they’re all covered. We emphasize the basics and work with handlers to build a high level of confidence and trust with their dog during the training. We will progress to performing these commands in a variety of situations and environments meant to mimic the day-to-day situations in your life.
The follow-up training touches upon basic obedience, sequencing of commands, tone, and vocal intent. Once a level of bond and confidence has been established between the dog and their new family, we will increase the intensity during these training sessions to prepare the handler for a situation in which the dog may need to be deployed for protection.
And yes, your dog even comes with a complete Svalinn Owner's Manual. You can refer to this manual anytime for training tips, feeding, health care, and other important information about your dog.
Svalinn recommends annual re-certification training for the life of your protection dog. This ensures that protection, stability, scent and obedience skills remain sharp. Re-certification training is a fee for service.
We will extend training or conduct follow up training at the owner’s request. Any training outside of the initial training package included with the purchase of the dog is a fee for service plus travel expenses.
